and i love him even more now
my half-mad boy
in his skeleton best
black and red, canary and camo
he pulls that heart out
of his chest
offers it as it beats and bleeds and
hopes, knows, that i am better
for seeing his scars, mirror
to my own
his words in my mouth
and my brain quiets down
want to live in his trenches and his forests
stay like this with the beat and the verse
in my pulse
i am an aching poet girl
but my vulture-king,
my antlered boy who screams
from the stage,
eats the cheesy gordita crunch
maybe i
will find my way
to pink skies, too
