Dear reader,

My name is Sarah and I'm a twenty-something emerging writer living in San Diego, CA. Writing has been my creative outlet and means of expression for as long as I can remember. Whether it's weaving imaginative stories, crafting thought-provoking essays, or capturing emotions through poetry, I love immersing myself in the art of storytelling.

The Story of Sad Girl Diaries

During the early days of the COVID pandemic, I found solace and purpose in writing poems and stories, pouring my heart onto pages and submitting them to literary magazines. As an emerging writer, the journey was filled with challenges, and success didn't come immediately. But instead of giving up on my publishing dreams, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create something unique—a literary blog.

I named it Sad Girls Club, drawing inspiration from a Cimorelli song that was stuck in my head during those days. The name resonated with me on a deeper level because it reflected my own struggles with mental health—depression and anxiety often found their way into my writing. In essence, I was a 'Sad Girl' with ambitious writing dreams, finding myself immersed in the stories of others, and looking for a way to share my own.

In the summer of 2020, I put out a call for submissions, curious to see if others would be interested in having their work published on the Sad Girls Club Literary Blog. To my suprise, the response was overwhelming, as writers from all corners of the world connected with the platform, eager to share their voices and stories. The emotional pieces featured on the blog resonated deeply with readers, who found comfort and connection within the words of fellow writers.

As the years passed, Sad Girls Club evolved into something more profound, and in 2023, it was rebranded as Sad Girl Diaries. Diaries start as blank pages waiting to be filled with stories, secrets, and life experiences. And that's precisely what this magazine represents—a collective diary filled with hundreds of posts reflecting the inner thoughts of 'girls' just like you. It is a space where writers can freely express their emotions, share their journeys, and connect with one another through the power of storytelling.
