I wanted to be ten when I was eight,
I wanted to be eighteen. I wanted
more when I was young.
I craved a mind which opened
naturally to awe as a field
upturns its face to harvest moon.
Already, I was weary
of fabricating certitude.
I am a pilgrim in the landscape
of my inner life, the dreamer staring
through a tree in afternoon.
I have put aside the compass,
for You come to me from everywhere.
