Blessed - Eben Ormston

Arms

around her knees

nestled back against me.

I lean a little to my left

to better see her silhouette

fair and freckled

long blond hair

darker eyebrows

pale clay lips.

From the corner of her eye

she sees me.

She is quiet

so am I

languid waves

shimmer, shade

and slip to shore.

Turning

slow playful smile

she kisses me softly.

Eben Ormston is the parent of three and a resident of Longmont, Colorado. With degrees from Carnegie Mellon and UC Davis, he has been an alternative-energy entrepreneur and university instructor. Eben is a member of the Steering Committee of the Boulder Writers Alliance. His first short story, “Fair and Square,” will publish this spring in the Plains Paradox Literary and Arts Journal.
