Karen Kimbro Johnson is a poet, novelist, visual artist and the author of the debut novel, “Climbing the Crystal Stairs.” She was accepted into the competitive Grubstreet Novel Writing Generator Program taught by Marjan Kamali. Karen was also selected to attend the highly coveted the Northern California Writer’s Retreat facilitated by Heather Lazare, a former big five in-house editor. Karen is active in The Sanctuary, led by Lori L. Tharps, a writing group for women BIPOC Writers, and is also active in her local writer’s group in San Diego, California. She earned a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the University of Southern California and lives with her husband in the country in San Diego.
