Dear Diary...
These words are for the sad girls. The mad girls. The girls who are screaming to be heard. The brave girls. The girls who love to read—but more than that—who need to read. Because connection is found in stories. In the spaces between words.
This is Sad Girl Diaries, an online literary magazine for young adult women to connect with their inner girlhood. We showcase new poetry, short stories, and creative nonfiction all year round.
Meet the Original 'Sad Girl'
Hi reader, I'm Sarah
I started Sad Girl Diaries as a place to share my own writing, be vulnerable, and connect with likeminded women. It was the summer of 2020, a time unlike any other. I felt extremely isolated during the COVID lockdown and was struggling with emotional and mental health. This magazine gave me a voice from the confines of my small apartment. For the first time in months, I finally felt heard. Now, I provide a space for others to read poetry, essays, and stories from emerging writers who are discovering their own voices.
So, grab a warm cup of tea, light a candle, and stay a while. I'm happy you're here.
